‘The Loft’ offers comfortable private apartment accommodation above our artist’s studio, at The Old Kennels near Dunkeswell, in the beautiful Blackdown Hills, Devon. We are in a central location to explore the southwest of England, or simply relax and unwind, enjoy our 30 acres of woodland with its shady stream,  wildflowers and circular walks.

The Loft is a pretty apartment, with a lounge, with television, two bedrooms, two bathrooms and hand built kitchen with dining area and a small private garden terrace with outdoor seating area and far reaching views across the fields and valley.

The kitchen is equipped with Belfast sink, hob, oven, microwave oven, fridge/freezer, dishwasher, kettle, toaster and washing machine. You will find tea/coffee and fresh milk in the fridge and of course a whole packet of biscuits in the tin. You may book a room, or the whole loft as an apartment sleeping up to four guests.

‘Filberts’ is a cosy room with two single beds, an en suite shower room and toilet, with views through its roof light high into the filbert trees which are often alive with squirrel activity!

‘Firs’ is slightly larger, with two single beds that can be zipped together to make a queen sized (double) bed on request. It has a private bathroom opposite the door. Both rooms are comfortably furnished with antique and vintage detail. The quilts on our beds are of course our own Alpaca, but if you would prefer synthetic hollow fibre please just ask.

Our rooms are equipped with hairdryers and bathrooms have plentiful fresh towels, hand soap, hand cream and body wash are from refillable pump dispensers. We use THE SOAP Co.  who are an ethical luxury brand that makes products that ‘are good and do good’. The Soap Co. use natural, ECOCERT and EU Ecolabel certified ingredients the range we use is from their vegan bee friendly product collection.

Walkers and Cyclists are welcome and we have a large drying room and secure bike storage for your convenience. Although we do not allow pets in The Loft apartment we can recommend the rather lovely Higher Wiscombe who do.

We have been graded as four star guest accommodation by The AA, Gold standard by the Green Tourism Business Scheme and Platinum by Trip Advisor Green Leaders programme, we have also been honoured to receive Gold Awards from Devon Tourism and Southwest Tourism – more details are on our ‘Awards’ page.
