LIVE ONLINE COURSE COMMENCES – Tuesday Evenings (6pm-7pm) 17th November 2020 FOR THREE WEEKS – see below for session times/dates
We will learn how to make beautifully on centre, sensuously pulled decorative ornaments and light catchers for the home over the Christmas period.
The class allows one to work in a creative way with colour on clear borosilicate. Students will learn how to encase clear rod and twist and shape in the flame to create an icicle with a loop to hang from. Loop exercises are set and once both design and loops are mastered we delve into the use of stripes twisted on the outside of the icicle leading to the making of a variety of different types of ‘filigrana’ cane in the Italian style. We will look at a number of design types with colour. The most important technique you will learn in this workshop is how to use heat to control (to your best advantage) and pull your glass uniformly. By the end of the workshop participants will have many beautiful creations for their home or as gifts for their nearest and dearest.
There will be three 1 hour live zoom sessions and two ‘one on one’ 15 minute personal consultations to help you through the tricky bits.
Skill Level: Your own flameworking torch, or access to a flameworking studio is a necessity. This course is suitable for beginners and improvers.
